The Southwest Minnesota Arts and Humanities Council held their Annual Celebration on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at the Willmar Conference Center.  It was great celebration with over 120 SMAHC members and guests present.  The Annual Celebration is a chance for artists and art supporters from the SMAHC area to get together and celebrate the arts in our region.

The highlight of the event is the honoring or our 2009 Prairie Star, Robert Mattson and Prairie Disciple, Joe Paddock.  Andrew Nordin introduced and presented the Prairie Star award and Jean Replinger introduced and presented the Prairie Disciple award.

We thank everyone who participated in the successful Silent Auction and Live Auction.  The money raised will be used to support arts activities throughout the region.  We thank Tim Benoit from Benoit Auction Service for donating his services to our Live Auction.  We also thank Leah Kay who played beautiful piano music during our Social Hour, and Duane Penske for drawing his amazing caricatures.  We were entertained by the Dassel Leikkering Scandinavian Folk Dancers.   Check out the pictures from the Annual Celebration.
