Amendment for the Arts

The Outdoors and Cultural Heritage Amendment will once again be considered when the Minnesota State Legislature meets in early 2008.  This legislation will allow Minnesota voters to decide on an amendment to our state constitution  which will dedicate 3/8 of 1% of the state sales tax to be used for game & fish, trails & parks, waters and arts & arts access.

The amendment would generate about $291 million a year for 25 years.  19.75% of this new revenue will be used for arts, arts education, arts access and to preserve Minnesota’s history and cultural heritage.

You can read more about the amendment at the MCA (Minnesota Citizens for the Arts) website:  mncitizensforthearts.org.  MCA also has an easy link for contacting your legislators.

Please consider joining other arts advocates at the annual Arts Advocacy Day at the capital on February 14th.
