SMAHC HOLDS ITS 31ST ANNUAL MEETING CELEBRATION
To celebrate 31 years
supporting and promoting the arts in
southwestern Minnesota, SMAHC held a costume dinner party at the new Conference
Center on the campus of Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall on
October 29, 2005. The celebration consisted of entertainment from around
the region, a silent auction, and delicious food. Brent Olson, author
of--most recently--Still Whistling and Letters from a Peasant,
gave the keynote address. If you aren't familiar with Mr. Olson's work be sure
to visit his website
Independently Speaking. Brent Olson farms near Ortonville in Big Stone
county and represents the 3rd District on the Big Stone County Commission.
Pat Kadlecek, this year's
Prairie Star and Louise Mack, the
Prairie Disciple for 2005 were
honored at the celebration.
The silent auction featured works of art from
artists from across the region, as well as goods and services from businesses
and agencies in all of the 18 counties that SMAHC serves. There was truly
something for everyone.
