Individual Artist, Art Projects, and Local Arts Organization Development Grants Awarded
Individual Artist Development and Career Grants
The Board of Directors of the Southwest Minnesota Arts & Humanities Council (SMAHC) awarded a total of $14,500 to local individual artists under the SMAHC/McKnight Development and Career Grant Programs. The Individual Artist Development Grant Program awards up to $1000 for projects to aid emerging artists, and the Individual Artist Career Grant Program awards up to $2500 to aid career artists. We would like to congratulate the most recent grant award recipients in these programs. These grants are funded by the McKnight Foundation.
Individual Artist Career Grants
? Douglas Holtquist, Ortonville, was awarded $2,500 to explore the art of glass casting.
? Duane Penske, Vesta, was awarded $2,500 to complete 3 dimensional mixed media paintings.
? Kristi Link Fernholz, Appleton, was awarded $2,500 to create photographic images on ceramic tile.
Individual Artist Development Grants
? Malena Handeen, Milan, was awarded $1000 to produce a CD.
? Sandra Dowie , Luverne, was awarded $1000 to purchase slab roller.
? Marcella Slater , Luverne, was awarded $1000 to purchase a Skutt GM1014 glass kiln.
? Cynthia Reverts, Luverne, was awarded $1000 to purchase an extruder, kiln & clay.
? Glenn Horky , Marshall, was awarded $1000 to purchase a wood lathe, stronghold chuck, and chisel set.
? Mike Burnette , Marshall, was awarded $1000 to purchase painting supplies.
? Marget Floyd , Windom, was awarded $1000 to purchase mattings & frames for an art show.
