Legacy Grants for Organizations and Communities Awarded
The Board of Directors of the Southwest Minnesota Arts & Humanities Council voted to award a total of $108,738 to local arts organizations under the Legacy Grants for Organizations and Communities grant program. Funds are provided to organizations for a variety of arts projects and activities that develop or enhance local arts organizations, communities, artists, or art audiences. Arts Legacy Grants are intended for projects or activities that will create a strong arts legacy in Minnesota. This activity is funded, in part, by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund as appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008.
Dawson-Boyd Arts Association was awarded $6,930 for the 2011 Minnesota Orchestra Spring Tour of Greater Minnesota.
Marshall Public Schools was awarded $7,182 for the Pecha-Kucha Workshop.
RiverSong, Hutchinson, was awarded $16,800 for funds to off-set operating expenses of RiverSong.
City of Appleton was awarded $21,000 for the Appleton Memory Trail.
Buffalo Ridge Chorale, Hendricks, was awarded $3,944 to establish a Buffalo Ridge Chorale Concert Series.
Blue Mound Area Theatre, Luverne, was awarded $20,016 for the purchase a sound system.
Southwest Minnesota State University, Marshall, was awarded $5,334 for the Marshall Festival 2010: Celebration of Rural Writing & Culture.
Friends of the Auditorium, Worthington, was awarded $10,340 for the Windsurfing Regatta & Unvarnished Music Festival.
Friends of the Library, Willmar, was awarded $3,848 for the “Make a Splash at the Library in the Arts”.
Granite Falls Arts Council was awarded $2,000 for strategic planning.
Rock County Council for Arts & Humanities, Luverne, was awarded $4,772 for Carnegie Cultural Center upgrades.
Nobles County Art Center, Worthington, was awarded $792 for the preservation of their permanent collection.
Winsted Arts Council was awarded $3,780 for the 2010 Arts In the Park.
Marshall Area Fine Arts Council was awarded $2,000.00 planning grant for the mural project in downtown Marshall
