SMAHC Programs for Individual Artists

The SMAHC Individual Artist grant program is designed to aid in career development and arts activities of artists living and working in the eighteen counties of southwestern Minnesota served by the Southwest Minnesota Arts and Humanities Council.  It is made possible by funds provided by the McKnight Foundation and the State of Minnesota.

INDIVIDUAL ARTIST – CAREER & LEGACY ARTIST GRANTS

Provides up to $5,000 to aid established career artists in the advanced stage of their career development with projects that will advance their career. Provides up to $7,000 to aid established career artists in the advanced stage of their career development with projects that leave an arts legacy in Minnesota. No match requirements.

ART STUDY OPPORTUNITY FOR YOUTH GRANTS

Up to $500 to aid in the development of young artists in grades 5 – 12 for an enrichment camp or specialty study. Not meant for standard annual fees/lessons. No match requirements.

PRAIRIE STAR AWARD
 

This award ($5,000) was established to provide awareness and recognition of one artist per year, from southwest Minnesota, whose body of work best exemplifies the highest quality of art in the SMAHC region.

PRAIRIE DISCIPLE AWARD
 

This award ($500) acknowledges one person who has been instrumental in promoting the arts in the 18-county area of southwestern Minnesota.

In 2014, this award will be given to recognize a teacher/educator only.
