 SMAHC presents a comprehensive listing or arts events in the Southwest Minnesota area.  We hope you find this listing helpful in planning events to attend over the next couple months.  If you have an event you would like included, click on the Submit an Event link below and fill out the form.  We will include your event in our listings.

You may contact the SMAHC office for the time and location of meetings.  Meetings are generally held in the SMAHC offices at 1210 E College Drive, Suite 600, Marshall, MN.  Panel meetings usually begin at 9:30 AM.
SMAHC follows the State of Minnesota Open Meeting Guidelines.

GALLERY LISTINGS

Kiehle Gallery at St. Cloud State University The Arcane Collection exhibition featuring new sculptures by Lisa M. Bergh.  The exhibit starts on March 15 and ends on April 9, 2010.  There is a reception on March 17 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM.

Nobles County Art Center, 407 12th Street, Worthington; February 7 to March 2, Paintings by Avis Davis; Admission is FREE to all events;  April 11 - May 10, Annual Area Art Show 2010;  Entries are encouraged;  there will be cash awards for Best of Show, Gene Schar Award for Excellence in Painting and Honorable Mention.  For more information on entering your work of art, call 507-372-8245.

March 7 "Lassies and Lunch Vintage" Fashion Show at The Little Theatre, 12 Central Avenue, New London; 2:00 PM; This event is free and open to the public.  Lassies from NLS High School bring the past alive as they model the
Theatre’s beautiful and expansive costume collection. Complimentary lunch to follow.  About The Little Theatre Costume Collection:  The Little Theatre Costume Collection has been growing for decades through quiet and generous donations from local individuals, organizations and retailers. The expansive and beautiful wardrobe contains garments, shoes and accessories dating from as far back as the 1890's to contemporary apparel items. A unique and valuable resource to The Little Theatre, the organization is pleased to share this special collection with the community. Some items may be available for rent (to wear or display). Dowd starts to introduce his imaginary friend, Harvey, to guests at a society party, his sister, Veta, reaches her limits and decides to have him committed to a sanitarium to spare their family from future embarrassment.  Problems arise, however, when Veta herself is mistakenly assumed to be on the verge of lunacy.  The doctors commit Veta instead of Elwood, but when the truth comes out, the search is on for Elwood and his invisible companion.  When he shows up at the sanitarium looking for his lost friend Harvey, it seems that the mild-mannered Elwood's delusion has had a strange influence on more than one of the doctors.  Only at the end does Veta realize that maybe Harvey isn't so bad after all.  For more information, visit www.hutchtheatre.org or email claypot@hutchtel.net
